Maria Stickley took over the reins of the Chestnut Hill College cross country and track and field programs prior to the 2020 spring season. Formerly an assistant at National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) DI institution Xavier University (August 2017 – May 2019), Stickley began her collegiate coaching career as a volunteer with Temple University in 2016.

During her time at Xavier University, Coach Stickley assisted Head Coach Ryan Orner with all aspects of an NCAA DI program. She focused on middle and long distances, while often assisting Coach David Payne with the Musketeers’ sprint and hurdle student-athletes. Coach Stickley assisted in the development of student-athletes in various track and field disciplines. Multiple student-athletes gained All-BIG EAST honors over her two years assisting the program. In addition, under Coach Stickley and the other members of the coaching staff, Xavier University’s 2018 Athlete of the Year, Maddie Britton (Bay Village, Ohio) qualified in both the NCAA Cross Country (2017) and Track and Field (2018; 10,000-Meter) Championships.

As an assistant coach with Temple University (August 2016 – June 2017), Stickley developed various professional skills, including the generation and implementation of training programs, budget management, and recruiting.

Prior to joining the Chestnut Hill College Athletics staff, Stickley worked alongside Melody O'Reilly of St. Joseph's University (Fall 2019). There, assisted Coach O'Reilly with the implantation of specialized workouts for the Hawks female sprint, jump, and hurdle student-athletes.

Coach Stickley competed collegiately at Appalachian State University, where she helped the Mountaineers to conference championships in 2012 (Southern Conference Women’s Outdoor Track and Field, Women’s Cross Country) and 2016 (Sun Belt Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field).

Coach Stickley currently resides in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.
