Rachel Hunte

Assistant Coach Rachel Hunte joined the Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s cross country coaching staffs prior to the 2014 season. A former record-setting track student-athlete at Kutztown University, Hunte spent the previous year as an assistant track and field coach at Lionville Middle School in Exton, Pennsylvania. She will also work with the Griffins’ track and field teams.

Hunte’s standout track career took off at Downingtown East High School, where she earned All-State honors as part of the Cougars’ distance medley relay unit as a senior (2008). Hunte then went on to Kutztown University, there she helped set program records in the indoor 4x400-meter relay and distance medley relay during her senior season (2011) and was named to the All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) team during the 2009-10 indoor season. Hunte’s personal best in the 400 meters, established in 2010, currently ranks fifth on the Golden Bears’ all-time chart.

A graduate student in secondary education, social studies, and clinical psychology, Hunte also helps to teach a seventh-grade class at Lionville Middle School. She works with students in one-on-one and group settings, helping to facilitate classroom discussion and maintain a positive environment for students to learn and interact with each other. Hunte also spent time at Downingtown East High School (2013), where she observed high school students in several settings and worked closely with an ESL classroom, also serving as an assistant track and field coach. At Downingtown East, she helped to grade classroom activities, provided counseling for a diverse group of students and created a trusting atmosphere through sensitivity to students’ strengths, weaknesses, and personal learning styles.

Hunte graduated from Kutztown University in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in clinical psychology. A graduate student at Drexel University, she expects to earn a master’s degree in teaching, learning and curriculum as well as her secondary teaching certificate in the spring of 2015. Hunte currently resides in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania.
