Jeremy Ortiz joined Ahmed Elgayar’s coaching staff as an assistant prior to the 2021 season. Coach Ortiz possess a wealth of soccer knowledge and experience as a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I student-athlete at La Salle University (2004-2007) and a professional player, most notably with the Rochester Lancers (2011-2013, 2014-2015, 2018-2020) of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). He began his coaching career in 2009 as an assistant with the Burlington County College women’s soccer team and most recently served as trainer with the Council Rock United Soccer Association (CRUSA)/Football Club U7-U8 Boys and Girls rosters (2019-2020).
Ortiz was a three-time All-Atlantic 10 (2005; 2nd Team, 2006: 1st Team, 2007: Honorable Mention) and Philly Soccer Seven performer for the Explorers, totaling 45 points (17 goals, 11 assists) in 60 collegiate contests. He was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA, now United Soccer Coaches) Regional All-American in 2006, when he helped lead La Salle University to a 7-9-2 overall mark with team-highs in goals (6), points (16), and shots (41).
While attending La Salle University, Ortiz joined the Ocean City Nor’easters (Formerly the Ocean City Barons) of the United Soccer League (USL), League Two (2006-2008). There, Ortiz ranks fourth all-time in goals (18) and points (42) and was named the club’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2006 with team-highs in goals (8) and points (18, Tied). After college, Ortiz went to enjoy a successful professional career with various clubs, including the Philadelphia Kixx (2008-2010, Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL)), the Rochester Lancers, Dandenong City (2013, Australia), Fitzroy Futsal (2013-2014, Australia), and the Baltimore Blast (2015-2016, MASL). Ortiz has played five seasons with the Rochester Lancers, earning a MASL Eastern Conference All-Star selection and induction to the team’s Wall of Fame in 2020. He finished the Lancers’ most recent campaign with 15 points (9 goals, 6 assists). He also earned five caps for the United States Futsal National Team in 2011 and made an appearance in the Grand Prix Futsal Tournament (Manaus, Brazil). Later, Ortiz was a MASL Champion, winning the league crown with the Baltimore Blast in 2016.
Following his time with the Burlington County College women’s soccer team (2009), Coach Ortiz went to appointments with Friends School Select (2012, Assistant Coach), Dandenong City Women’s Soccer Club (2013, Head Coach), Total Soccer Academy (2014, Trainer), Doug Miller Soccer U15 Boys and U15 Girls (2015, Assistant Coach), Mount Laurel United Soccer (2016-2018, Trainer), Ukrainian Nationals 2002 Boys Red Team (2018-2019, Assistant), and the CRUSA/FC U7-U8 Boys and Girls teams (2019-2020, Trainer). He currently serves as the owner/operator of JO Soccer Training, which provides individual and small group soccer instruction for children, ages seven and up.
Coach Ortiz graduated from La Salle University in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in communications: public relations. He currently resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
