Head Coach Keith Cappo took over the men’s soccer program following the 2009 season, after serving as an assistant for two seasons. In his first season directing the Griffins, Cappo led Chestnut Hill College to their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament appearance with a 9-10 overall record and a 5-6 league standing. The Griffins also placed their first student-athlete on the All-CACC Team with senior forward Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland) garnering Second Team honors.
As a collegiate student-athlete, Cappo was a four-year starter at The Catholic University of America, where he served as team captain in his junior and senior seasons with the Cardinals. While serving as captain for Catholic University, Cappo also collected back-to-back Team Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards; along with a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) All-Conference selection in his senior campaign. Cappo totaled over 40 points in his collegiate career with the Cardinals. In addition to his performance on the field he also succeeded in the classroom, as he twice received all-academic recognition from the CAC (2000 & 2001). Prior to attending Catholic University, he was a three year starter at the William Penn Charter School, earning all-InterAcademic and all-city honors during his senior year for the Quakers.
Professionally, Cappo has coached on various levels of competition including international, club, and high school soccer. In addition to his duties at Chestnut Hill College, he currently serves as a staff coach for Penn Fusion Soccer Academy in Downingtown, Pennsylvania, and the head coach of the U-17 Kniths and the U-9 Barca teams of the Spirit United Soccer Club. Previously, Cappo worked with the
Predators 98 at West Chester United Soccer Club and the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) Olympic Development staff. Keith has additional coaching experience with the Arlington Travel Soccer Club (2005-2006), Thomas A. Edison High School (2004-2006), Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School (2004-2006), and The Shipley School (2006-2008). Currently, he holds a United States Soccer Federation "B" License, a NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, a Director of Coaching Diploma, and a United States Youth Soccer Association National Youth License.
Coach Cappo earned a bachelor of science in mathematics with a minor in secondary education from Catholic University. He is currently currently pursuing a master's degree in education from Chestnut Hill College while teaching mathematics at the Shipley School. Cappo resides with his wife, Emily and son, Quinn, in Ambler, Pennsylvania.
