A former head and assistant Chestnut Hill College tennis coach and current professional coach at Green Valley Country Club in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, Ryan Gargullo was named the Chestnut Hill College Director of Tennis prior to the start of the 2017-2018 season. An assistant coach to Albert Stroble from 2010-2012, Gargullo established himself as a familiar in the local tennis scene with prior experience at the University of Pennsylvania, Fossler’s Cheltenham Racquet Club, Legacy Youth Tennis and Education Center (Legacy Center), LaSalle University, and the Tennis Addiction Sports Club. Most recently, he excelled as the Director of Placement and an academy coach at the Evert Tennis Academy in Boca Raton, Florida, and served as Chestnut Hill College Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach during the 2016-2017 season in which the men's program captured the College's first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship.Â
Â
Gargullo first frequented the Legacy Center - then Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education Center – as a junior tennis player. In his developmental years, Gargullo earned top rankings both locally and nationally, simultaneously competing at Chestnut Hill Academy before playing collegiately at LaSalle University. With the Explorers, he served as a three-year captain, consistently performing at number one singles, number one doubles, and number two doubles. He was chosen as the team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) three times and was a three-time recipient of the University’s Scholar Athlete Academic Achievement Award.
Â
While competing at Chestnut Hill Academy and LaSalle University, Gargullo immediately began giving back to the local tennis community as a professional coach at the University of Pennsylvania’s Levy Tennis Pavilion (1995 –2005). Later, following his 2002 graduation from LaSalle University with a bachelor’s degree in special and elementary education, he served as an assistant coach for the Quakers men’s tennis team (2004-2005). Gargullo then returned to private coaching at Fossler’s Cheltenham Racquet Club and subsequently reentered collegiate tennis as an assistant coach at his alma mater (2007) and Chestnut Hill College (2010-2012).
Under then Head Coach Albert Stroble and alongside current Holy Family University head women’s tennis coach Andrew Silverman, Gargullo helped foster an era of unprecedented athletic success at Chestnut Hill College. Since the 2010-2011 season the Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s tennis team has been a regular competitor in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournaments and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East Regional Championships. During his time at the College, Gargullo helped develop the College’s first three 100-game victors into All-CACC performers; Anastasiya Shcherbakova ’13, Maria Parapouras ’13, and Kelly Dennis ’14.
Â
Following his time as a Griffin, Gargullo once again rejoined private sector as a Junior Program Coordinator at the Tennis Addiction Sports Club (2011-2013) in Exton, Pennsylvania, and later as Evert Tennis Academy’s Director of College Placement (2014-2016). There, he identified and recruited student-athletes – in compliance with the NCAA Bylaws - from across the United States and internationally. Gargullo assisted students in the collegiate decision and placement processes.

Gargullo is certified by the various certifications from the Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), U.S. Professional Tennis Association (USPTA), United States Racquet Stringers Association (USRSA), and The Human Performance Institute, and currently resides in Thorndale, Pennsylvania.
