In July of 2022, Ian Hankins was named as the Head coach of the Griffins’ Cross Country and Track and Field teams, becoming the sixth coach in the program’s history which dates back to 2005 for cross country and 2014 for track and field.

Hankins comes to Chestnut Hill from Keystone College, an NCAA Division III institution in LaPlume, Pennsylvania where he led the Giants to their first Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Cross Country championship in 2021 while earning the CSAC Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year.

Arriving at Keystone on the onset of the pandemic in February 2020, Hankins' teams didn't get a taste of competition until the 2021 outdoor track and field season.  When returning to competition, Hankins led the men's track and field program to a third place finish at the CSAC championships while the women's program took home fourth place.  Hosting the CSAC Cross Country Championship in 2021, Hankins guided the Keystone men to a first place finish.  In 2022, the Keystone men placed fourth at the conference outdoor championships while the women tied for fifth place.

Prior to Keystone, Hankins was the head Men's Cross country and Track and Field coach at The Catholic University of America.  While at Catholic, Hankins coached 14 USTFCCCA South/Southeast All-Region Athletes, four Landmark Conference Individual Champions, three Landmark Relay Champions, 42 All-Landmark Conference athletes while breaking 13 program records.

Previously, Hankins was the head coach at Potomac State College of West Virginia University from 2014-16, starting the program from scratch in 2014. Hankins also served as an assistant coach at Montgomery College (2013-14) and Baker University (2011-13).

Hankins received his Bachelor's degree from Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio in 2010 and earned his Master's degree from Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas in 2013. Hankins also holds several coaching certifications: USATF Level 2 Certified in Endurance Events, USATF Level 1 and USTFCCCA Strength & Conditioning.
