Pete Berrios

Pete Berrios was named Chestnut Hill College’s Head Softball Coach prior to the 2019 season. Berrios prides himself on the positive relationships he has built as a manager, assistant coach, hitting coach, offensive strategist, and an academy director for organizations like Bryant & Stratton College, Richard Bland College, Lakeland Community College, the Oakland Athletics, Stars and Stripes Sports, as well as, the Georgia Sports Academy and Pete Berrios (PB) Baseball and Softball Academy. Chestnut Hill College is Berrios’ first head coaching appointment at the collegiate level.
 
With over 25 years of experience, including high school, elite travel, and professional baseball teams, as well as, experience working as an instructor at some of the best-known baseball training facilities in the country, Coach Berrios has spent the last 13 years in collegiate-level skill development. He most recently served as an assistant coach for the Bryant & Stratton College (VA) baseball program (September 2017 – October 2018). As a member of the Bobcats’ coaching staff, Berrios was responsible for offensive instruction, as well as, heavily involved in recruitment, practice planning and execution, and program marketing, which helped guide Bryant and Stratton College to a 28-24 record in 2018. Prior to that, Berrios was the hitting coach for the Richard Bland College (of William and Mary) softball program (August 2016 – September 2017). There, he made his mark by tutoring the Statesmen to one of the top offensive teams in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA); an accomplishment that produced four All-Region 10 selections and a run to the Region 10 Championship.
 
Berrios’ prior engagements came as a hitting coach and offensive strategist for Lakeland Community College (August 2005 – May 2007), as the national softball director for the Stars and Stripes Sports (December 2011 – present), as part owner of the Georgia Sports (September 2007 – December 2011) and PB (May 1999 – August 2007) Academies. Coach Berrios led the Michigan Mustangs travel team to Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) National Championships. The achievement earned him head coaching opportunities at five high school programs including Notre Dame Preparatory High School (Michigan), and institutions in Ohio, Alabama, and Florida, who all qualified for the state playoffs. All five programs eventually qualified for state playoffs under his guidance, fostering an assistant manager for the Southern Oregon Timberjacks – a Class A Northwest League affiliate of the Oakland Athletics (1996), managerial position with the Frontier League’s Ohio Valley Redcoats (1997), and an extended stint as an National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) summer league coach. In addition, Coach Berrios has seen success in the Super Series (2002), Perfect Game (2004), Barrett Fletcher (2006), and South Carolina (2007) leagues. During the course of his career, he created and developed the “Pure Hitting” method, a world-renowned hitting program that focuses on progressive hitting enhancement and serves as the foundation of his professional hitting instruction.

Coach Pete Berrios is a father to three daughters; Alexandra, Anika, and Addison.
