Biography

FRESHMAN (2014) – Bensen-Abatangelo showed potential in her first season with the Griffins as she provided the team’s second best finish in each meet. She placed 24th (24:07.3) at the Queensborough Community College Invitational on September 14, 70th (25:18) at the Philadelphia Metro Meet on September 27, 190th (27:54) at the Paul Short Invitational on October 4, 234th (27:52.8) at the Gettysburg College Invitational on October 18, 55th (23:37) at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Meet on November 2, and 161st (27:31.3) at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II East Regional Meet on November 22. She was also a member of the Chestnut Hill College Spring 2015 Athletics Academic Honor Roll.

SOPHOMORE (2015) – Bensen-Abatangelo participated in four of six events, offering her best finish at the Bryn Athyn Invitational (6K) on October 3; she place 19th with a time of 29:08.6. Bensen-Abatangelo also placed 75th (30:48.9) in the Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Memorial Invitational (10/19, 6K), 40th (23:54.5) at the Cougar Chase Invitational (10/17, 5K), and 59th (23:44.4) at the CACC Championship Meet. She earned academic recognition on both the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 Chestnut Hill College Athletics Academic Honor Rolls.

JUNIOR (2016) – Bensen-Abatangelo competed in all six events, her best five-kilometer (5K) time of 23:38.0 came with a 11th place finish at the Queensborough Community College Invitational (9/18), where the Griffins claimed their first-ever team crown (1st of 14, 782 points). Meanwhile, her top six-kilometer (6K) time of 25:52.0 earned her a 158th place finish at Lehigh University’s Paul Short Invitational (10/1). She finished 62nd (24:16.4) at the CACC Championship Meet and 160th (26:34.0) at the NCAA DII East Regional Championship. Academically, she earned membership on the fall 2016 and spring 2017 Chestnut Hill College Athletics Academic Honor Rolls, the Division II (DII) Athletics Directors Association Academic Achievement Awards, and the 2016 CACC Women’s Cross Country All-Academic Team. Bensen-Abatangelo received the Women’s Cross Country Coach’s Award at the annual Chestnut Hill College Athletics Award Reception.

SENIOR (2017) – The captain was rewarded for her leadership and overall value to the Chestnut Hill College’s cross country team by earning the Coach’s Award at the annual awards reception.  She competed in four events recording a 47th (18:17.9) in the 4K at the Misericordia University Invitational; 17th (27:43.00) in the 6K at the Battle of the Buggy; 32nd (22:00.7) in the 5K at the CACC Championship Meet; and 115th (27:04.2) in the 6K at the NCAA East Regional.
