Sebold Shares CACC Women’s Basketball Defensive Player Of the Week Award, Hewlett Mentioned On Honor Roll
 
New Haven, Conn. - (12/9/2019) –
A career night (17 points, 6 rebounds, 1 block, 2 steals) from Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) delivered Chestnut Hill College a 73-67 victory over Georgian Court University in Tuesday evening’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season opener. On Saturday, December 9, junior guard Cassie Sebold (Willow Grove, Pa.) captained a 77-64 Scarlet and Gold home-victory over Goldey-Beacom College with 14 points, nine assists, a block, and five steals. Both were included on this week’s CACC Women’s Basketball Report as Sebold garnered a share of the league’s Defensive Player of the Week title, while Hewlett attracted Honor Roll recognition.
 
Hewlett scored three, three point baskets (3-of-3, 1.000) in a 7-of-10 (.700) shooting performance at Georgian Court University (1-4, 0-1). She accounted for Chestnut Hill College’s (3-5, 2-0) final eight points of the second quarter, gave the Griffins their first lead of the game with 2:40 (63-62) left to play, and a four-point lead, 67-63, with a little more than a minute (1:08) remaining in the game. Hewlett’s 17 points led four Griffins in double figures. Sebold was top among them, totaling 15 points in excess of two rebounds, three assists, a block, and two steals.
 
Chestnut Hill College earned its second straight CACC win with Saturday’s 77-64 victory over Goldey-Beacom College. A season-high five Griffins finished in double figures; sophomore guard Rachael Millan (Huntingdon Valley, Pa.) came off the bench for 11 points, sophomore guard Lauren Crim (Warrington, Pa.) led in scoring with 24 points, sophomore forward Leah Miller (Punxsutawney, Pa.) posted her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Sebold (14 points, 9 assists) and Hewlett (16 points, 9 rebounds) nearly missed their first career double-doubles. Sebold paired her 14 points and nine assists with a block and five steals, bringing her weekly defensive totals two blocks and seven steals.
