Humes Dawns CACC Honor Roll

Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) earned a mention on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Honor Roll for his efforts in the Griffins 3-1 week. Humes went 3-1 at number one singles and 4-0 in doubles play while also receiving a #15 East Region Singles Ranking from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Wednesday, March 20.
As a team Chestnut Hill College (10-4) garnered the ITA East Region's #4 team ranking while completing a 3-1 week that included CACC doubleheader wins over Post University, 9-0, and Caldwell College, 9-0, on Saturday, March 23. The Griffins also defeated Dowling College 8-1 on Friday, March 22, and closed the week challenging #47 the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) to a 6-3 loss on Sunday, March 24.
Dowling College served as the Griffins first victory of the week, 8-1. Humes paired with junior
Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico) at number two doubles for an 8-0 win, before securing a 6-0, 6-3 win at number one singles. In the CACC doubleheader against Post University and Caldwell College, Humes first teamed with Ceniceros for an 8-4 win at number two doubles and then captured a 6-2, 6-3 individual win at number one singles. Later in the day, against Caldwell College, Humes and Ceniceros completed a sweep of doubles play with an 8-3 win at number two doubles. Singles was a sweep as well for the Griffins; Humes won number one singles 6-2, 6-0. The week concluded with a match at UDC. Humes and Ceniceros were again victorious at number three doubles, 8-3, but individually Humes dropped his first match of the week, 0-6, 6-3, 6-0, at number one singles.
Humes currently leads the Griffins lineup in victories, sporting an 11-3 record at number one singles. He also collected two wins in tournament play to post a 13-4 overall individual record. In doubles, Humes has played in each flight while helping to provide a 10-3 standing.
The men’s tennis team plays next on Thursday, March 28, when they host La Salle University in a 2:30 p.m. match.
