Humes and Taylor Return to CACC Report As Player and Rookie of the Week

Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and freshman
Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) returned to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Tennis report this week, this time earning recognition as the league Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Humes went and Taylor both went 4-0 in two CACC matches last week, helping the Griffins improve to 4-0 in league play.
Resuming CACC play on Tuesday, April 2, Chestnut Hill College (14-5, 4-0) claimed a 6-3 victory at the University of the Sciences (USciences). The Griffins claimed the bottom two doubles match ups from the Devils to take a 2-1 advantage into individual play. There, the Griffins posted victories at number one, number four, number five, and number six singles to seize their third league victory, 6-3. On Friday, April 5, the Griffins traveled down the Wissahickon to Abraham Salaman Tennis Courts for an afternoon CACC match at Philadelphia University. The Griffins took the opening round of doubles in reverse order and swept singles play as well for a 9-0 victory over the hosting Rams.
Humes went 2-0 at number one singles and 2-0, paired with junior
Manuel Ceniceros (Mexico City, Mexico), at number three doubles while Taylor won 6-2, 6-1, at number four singles in the Griffins 6-3 win at the USciences , and won 6-0, 7-5 at number five singles in the Griffins 9-0 win over Philadelphia. He also combined with junior
Anthony Moore (Williamstown, N.J.) for a pair of wins at number two doubles, winning 8-5 and 8-4 against their respective CACC opponents. Humes is currently 14-5 at number ones singles and 18-3 in doubles play while Taylor has offered a 16-2 individual record playing between number four and number six singles, and contributed to an 11-10 doubles standing.
The men's tennis team continues their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 3:00 p.m. match at #10 Concordia College (NY) on Wednesday, April 10.
