Taylor Earns Third CACC Rookie of the Week Award, Say Shows on Honor Roll

Kevin Taylor (Burlington, N.J.) earned victories at number four singles and number three doubles in the wins over Millersville University and Bloomfield College to earn the league’s Rookie of the Week award while sophomore
Steven Say (Cannes, France) received a mention on the CACC Honor Roll with a 3-1 record in both singles and double play.
Chestnut Hill College (15-7, 5-1 CACC) tennis concluded a tremendous season with this week’s 2-2 stretch. Kicking off the week against the Marauders, the Griffins men improved to 14-5 with an efficient 8-1 victory. Three doubles wins delivered the Griffins a 3-0 the advantage heading to singles play. Jeramy Solema (Briarwood, N.Y.) for an 8-2 win in the third team flight, while Say combined with junior
Yoann Pham (Boulogne-Billancourt, France) for the 8-5 win at number one doubles. Both were victorious in singles play as well; Say securing number three singles 6-0, 6-0, and Taylor taking number four singles 6-1, 6-2.
Two days later, in a match-up of undefeated CACC rivals, #10 Concordia College (NY) came away as the victor over Chestnut Hill College, 9-0. The Griffins gave their best showing at number four singles, Say forced senior David Tisserand (Lyon, France) to a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 final. Following the loss to the Clippers, the Griffins returned home for the first time in five matches to host Bloomfield College in their final CACC match of the season. Taylor and Say joined their teammates with two victories apiece in the 9-0 triumph.
The Griffins concluded their 2012-2013 regular season with a challenging regional match at NYIT. They held a 2-1 advantage with Say and contributing to an 8-5 win in the first team flight, but the Bears came away victorious on their home courts as they bested the Griffins in four of six singles matches. Say continued his recent strong play as they only Griffins to win in both formats.
Earning his third CACC Rookie of the Week title, Taylor has posted a team-best 18-4 (.818) individual record playing between number four and number six singles. He is 12-12 in doubles play, primarily playing for a 5-10 standing at number two doubles with junior
Anthony Moore (Williamstown, N.J.).
Say complied a 12-6 record at number one doubles, earning a 1-1 record with sophomore
Michael Humes (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and an 11-5 mark when paired with Pham. He finished the regular season 14-6 in singles play, competing as an individual in flights two through five.
The men's tennis team continues their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 3:00 p.m. match at #10 Concordia College (NY) on Wednesday, April 10.
