ECC Lists Owen On Week Nine Honor Roll
Central Islip, N.Y. - (04/23/2013) – Senior attack
Craig Owen (Glenolden, Pa.) provided a six-point effort in Chestnut Hill College’s 14-3 victory over Dominican College (NY) on Saturday, April 20, to earn mention on this week’s East Coast Conference (ECC) Honor Roll.
The contest was quiet at the start, scoreless for the opening six minutes until Chestnut Hill College (6-5, 3-2) got on the scoreboard with 8:45 left in the opening quarter, 1-0. After that the scoring came easy for the Griffins. Owen found junior
Michael Landau (Lancaster, Pa.) at the end of the first quarter to make it 4-2 Griffins. He scored again just over two minutes (12:56) into the second period, giving the Griffins a 5-2 lead before they finished with a 6-2 advantage. In the second half it was all Griffins with Owen leading a 8-0 run that would have ended on the final horn if not for one more Charger score with 25 seconds on the game clock (0:25), 14-3.
Owen ranks second to only junior attack
Michael Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario) on the Griffins season box score. He has recorded 34 points with 20 goals and 14 assists while also contributing ten groundballs and a caused turnover to the Griffins 6-5 standing.
The men’s lacrosse team completes their home schedule next Saturday, April 27, with another ECC challenge as Dowling College will meet the Griffins for a 1:00 p.m. face-off at the Plymouth Whitemarsh High School Football Stadium.
