Trabosh Takes Sixth CACC Defensive Player of the Week Award
New Haven, Conn. – (11/5/2013) – Remaining as the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) leader in digs (562) and digs-per-set (5.30), freshman
Regina Trabosh (Norristown, Pa.) totaled 64 digs over 11 sets (5.82 d/s) last week to earn her sixth CACC Defensive Player of the Week award. Trabosh has eclipsed the 30-dig threshold four times this season, doing so most recently in Chestnut Hill College’s 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23) victory over Dominican College on Saturday, November 2.
Coming down the final stretch of their CACC schedule, Chestnut Hill College (8-20, 6-11) visited Wilmington University on Tuesday, October 29, to complete their league series with the Wildcats. The home team met the Griffins with a strong showing as they claimed the match on a 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-18) final. Trabosh’s two aces and 15 digs led the Griffin effort, which played well early and late, but not well enough in between to deny the Wildcats.
Again competitive at the start and competitive at the end, Chestnut Hill College fell behind Georgian Court University just enough to drop Friday, November 1, night’s CACC match by a 3-1 (25-15, 25-23, 25-27, 25-17) final. The Griffins recieved ten kills from three different hitters, but Trabosh anchored the Griffins defensive effort with 18 digs in the match.
The Griffins brought their six-match losing skid to a close with Saturday's CACC victory over Dominican College. Chestnut Hill College and the defending league championships, Dominican College, split the first two sets by 25-19 finals, before the home side came on strong in the final two frames, edging the Lady Chargers in a 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23) triumph. Trabosh went for 31 digs in the match to increase her conference leading total to 562.
The women's volleyball team will conclude their home schedule and honor their senior class on Wednesday, November 6, when they host Holy Family University in a 7:00 p.m. CACC match.
