Alec Dambach (Howell, N.J.) was nearly unstoppable with his five goals, four assists, four ground balls, and two caused turnovers headlining an impressive 20-8 East Coast Conference (ECC) victory at Dominican College on Saturday, April 12. He was recognized as the league’s Rookie of the Week on the ECC Week Eight Men’s Lacrosse Report.
Dambach set up the first Chestnut Hill College (4-5, 3-3) goal when he found senior midfielder
Mark Winkelspecht (Laurys Station, Pa.) for a score at 13:02. Dominican College (1-10, 0-5) had an immediate answer, 1-1 at 12:31, but they could not keep up with the Griffins pace as Dambach scored twice and senior attack
Michael Melnychenko (St. Catharines, Ontario) once in a 4-1 opening frame. From there, the Griffins outscored the Chargers 8-3 in the second quarter and 8-4 in the second half to enjoy a 12-goal triumph.
Dambach currently ranks second on the team in points, totaling 24 on nine goals and a team-high 15 assists. He also has recorded 25 ground balls and five caused turnovers.
The men's lacrosse team will briefly break from ECC play to host a future member, Post University in a 7:00 contest on Wednesday, April 16.
