Riemer Requires CACC Honor Roll Mention With Swings at Griffin InvitationalÂ
New Haven, Conn. - (3/23/2015) – Freshman

nd place (84, +12) finish in the Goldey-Beacom College Invitational to serve as Chestnut Hill College’s top performer (T4

Bundling up to face the chilly weather, the Chestnut Hill College golf team joined eight other squads at Garrisons Lake Golf Club for the Goldey-Beacom College Invitational. While CACC rival, Wilmington University took the crown with a team score of 309 (+21) the Griffins settled for an eighth-place finish (335, +47). Chestnut Hill College’s four qualifying golfers finished only a couple strokes apart, unfortunately their scorecards left them towards the latter half of the individual leaderboard. Sophomore
Anthony Hoffman (Philadelphia, Pa.) and senior
Blaise Straka Jr. (Croydon, Pa.) turned in the Griffins best scores with matching rounds of 83 (+11) placing them tied for 28
th. A stroke behind was Riemer (84, +12) and yet just a swing behind him was junior
Bryan Saxon (Califon, N.J.) who tied for 38
th with his score of 85 (+13). Junior
Matthew Balcer (Bensalem, Pa.) also competed in the event, but failed to contribute to the Griffins final score with his round of 87 (+15) tying him for 45
th.
Â
Wilmington University was victorious for the second time in as many days as they won the spring Griffin Invitational at Inniscrone Golf Club comfortably with an 18 stroke lead over their closest competitor, Moravian College (315, +35). Reimer was Chestnut Hill College’s best golfer for the second time this season and the first time this year as he tied for 4
th with his round of 75 (+5). He was joined in the team scoring by Balcer (T11th, 77, +7), Hoffman (T27th, 81, +11), Saxon (T45th, 85, +15), and Straka (T58th, 88, +18), but quality individual finishes were also provided by junior
Cody Bloom (San Diego, Calif.) (T17
th, 79, +9), and sophomore
Kevin O'Donnell (Cape May Courthouse, N.J.) (T27
th, 81, +11).

The golf team competes next on April 2 through April 4, when they travel to Shoreham, New York’s Tall Grass Country Club for Dowling College’s Peter King Memorial Tournament.
