Jaffé Mentioned on CACC Weekly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. - (9/28/2015) – Senior midfielder Nicholas Jaffe (Sao Paulo, Brazil) continued an already impressive senior season with all three of the Griffin goals in a 0-1-1 week of Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. He currently stands tied for second in league for goals (6), tied for fifth in assists (3), and third in points.
For the third straight season, Chestnut Hill College and Georgian Court University needed two overtimes to decide matters, the two sides locking horns in an evenly matched fray at Victory Field #1 this evening. Fittingly, Jaffe and Lions freshman midfielder Arturo Sanchez (Kearny, N.J.) each scored twice for their respective sides, with Sanchez's 80th-minute (79:41) equalizer serving as the final word in a 2-2 draw. Heroic efforts abounded over the next 30 minutes, however, leaving the CACC foes to settle for a well-deserved point. The stalemate extended Chestnut Hill College's unbeaten streak to five games.
Jaffe delivered the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team an early second-half lead versus the Golden Falcons, depositing the rebound of his own saved penalty kick to snap a scoreless stalemate in the 51st minute (50:05). Under the lights of its home turf, however, host Felician College equalized in just 1:15, put in the eventual game-winner nearly 10 minutes after that (61:13), and held on from there to grab a 2-1 CACC conquest. The setback was the Griffins' first in league play and stopped their unbeaten streak, the team's longest since 2010, at five games.
Chestnut Hill College returns home for a big test on Wednesday, September 30. They host first-place Wilmington University (6-1, 4-0), ranked fifth in the National Soccer Coaches of America (NSCAA) Division II East Region poll, at 7:00 p.m.
