Dickson Draws Third Consecutive CACC Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (11/30/2015) – Senior guard Luke Dickson (Pitman, N.J.) averaged 16.7 points-per-game (PPG), 3.0 rebounds-per-game (RPG), and 4.7 assists-per-game (APG) to lead Chestnut Hill College to a 1-2 week of non-conference play against Coppin State University, Millersville University, and the University of the District of Columbia (UDC). For his efforts, Dickson was recognized on this week’s CACC Honor Roll.

Dickson followed a 15-point effort at Coppin Stats University, on November 23, with 20 points and a career-high nine assists in the Griffins’ 92-77 pre-holiday victory over Millersville University on, Wednesday, November 25. He ended the week with 15 points, five rebounds, and four assists in a rematch-loss at UDC on Saturday, November 28.

Off tipoff at Coppin State University’s Physical Education Complex in Baltimore, Maryland, Chestnut Hill College (2-4) sprinted out to a quick 7-0 advantage after an opening dunk from junior forward Gerald Evariste (Philadelphia, Pa.) was followed by back-to-back baskets from Dickson. But the Griffin lead soon vanished behind the Eagles' superior rebounding and defensive effort that earned the home team a 46-40 halftime lead and an eventual 92-75 victory this evening. Dickson lead the Griffins with 15 points while Evariste tied his career scoring mark set earlier this season with 14 points.

Wednesday’s contest versus the Marauders turned into a tale of two halves. Fortunately both were in the Griffins' favor as Chestnut Hill College gave themselves a 35-27 halftime lead with a superior rebounding effort, 25-16, and shooting performance, 41.2%-32.4%, before putting the Marauders away, 92-77, in a free-throw heavy second half that saw a combined 48 chances at the charity stripe. The Griffins' starting backcourt of Dickson and sophomore Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) was nearly unstoppable as Dickson added nine assists, two rebounds, and two steals to his fourth 20-point effort while Isaac netted a career-high 27 points in addition to five rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

On Saturday, Chestnut Hill College found themselves pitted against the Firebirds of UDC for the second time this season. Dickson led the Griffins to a narrow 37-36 halftime advantage, but in the end it was freshman guard Liban Awl (Manassas, Va.) who carried the Chestnut Hill College banner against the Firebirds’ revenge, scoring a career-high 18 points in a 93-83 loss.

The Griffins return home to Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, December 2, to host Georgian Court University in an 8:00 p.m. CACC season opener.
