Dickson Draws Fourth CACC Weekly Honor Roll Recognition

New Haven, Conn. - (1/11/2016) – Eclipsing the 20-plateau for the sixth and seventh time this season, senior guard Luke Dickson (Pitman, N.J.) garnered an Honor Roll recognition on this week’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Basketball Report. Dickson led Chestnut Hill College to a 75-73 league win over CACC North-leading Post University on Wednesday, January 9, before recording a career-high 28 points in the Griffins’ narrow 84-83 loss at Concordia College (NY) on Saturday, January 9.

Dickson hit the fifth (5-of-8, .625) three pointer in a 21-point performance to take down the current CACC North Division leaders in a 75-73 victory at Post University on Wednesday, January 6, evening. Sophomores, guard Demetrius Isaac (Philadelphia, Pa.) and forward Edward McWade (Wildwood, N.J.) joined Dickson in double figures; the former offering nine points in the first half and the latter scoring all 12 of his points in a Griffin second half that totaled 49 points on 61.5% (16-of-26) shooting performance.

At a frenetic pace, McWade and Dickson took turns spiriting the Griffins' triumphant second-half run as the prior scored a three-point basket to give Chestnut Hill College (6-8, 3-3) their only sustaining lead of the game, 49-47, midway through the second half (10:33) and the succeeding hit a long-range basket to extend the Griffins' advantage to its largest margin, 66-58. A brief Post University (8-5, 4-2) reprisal, brought the home team back within one point, 67-66, just before the two-minute mark (2:11), but just seconds later the uprising was extinguished on Dickson's fifth three-point basket of the night. Short on time, the Eagles forced the Griffins to earn the league victory at the free throw line. And that they did, hitting 5-of-8 (.625) to hold off the Eagles' fleeting rally that closed the final margin to two points. Dickson added a rebound, two assists, and two steals to his sixth 20-point performance of the season.

On Saturday, a last-second inbound play won the contest for Concordia College (NY), as the Clippers capitalized on a late Griffin turnover to succeed in an 84-83 final. Elusive at times this season, Dickson scored 26 of a season-high 28-points in the second half, weaving through the Clipper defense and connecting on five three-pointers (5-of-10, .500) for a second time in as many games.

Concordia College (NY) (6-10, 3-4) led a majority of the contest, surrendering the lead to Chestnut Hill College (6-9, 3-4) on a Dickson three-point basket that delivered the Griffins a 81-80 advantage heading to the final minute of play (1:04). After a Clipper layup, McWade returned the Griffins to the lead, 83-82, with 28 (0:28) seconds to play. The Clipper’s following three-point attempt found its way out of bounds, granting the Griffins a valuable possession. But the tables turned on an ill-timed turnover that rewarded Concordia College with an inbound opportunity that decided the conference rivals’ fates. Dickson was 9-of-17 (.529) from the floor and 5-of-7 (.714) from the free throw line in his command performance. He also grabbed a rebound and provided two assists in the effort.

The Chestnut Hill College men’s basketball team returns to Sorgenti Arena on Tuesday, January 12, to host Nyack College in an 8:00 p.m. CACC contest.
