New Haven, Conn. - (4/18/2016) – Freshman Pierre Kohler (Les Sables d'Olonne, France) was 4-0 in both formats last week, helping Chestnut Hill College to consecutive wins over Bloomfield College (8-1 on 4/13), Caldwell University (6-3 on 4/14), Queens College (6-3 on 4/15), and Post University (8-1 on 4/16) and earning himself his second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week Award and sixth Rookie of the Week Award.

Chestnut Hill College kept their CACC record perfect with Wednesday's 8-1 league win over Bloomfield College. The Griffins swept doubles play with moderate competition before only slipping up at number two singles, where the Bears claimed their only point in vain on a 6-4, 3-6, 10-4 final. Combined with sophomore Jonathan Ducretot (Antibes, France), Kohler was part of an 8-2 victory at number one doubles before extending the Griffin lead to 6-0 with his 6-1, 6-2, win at number one singles.

It was freshman Adam Gavin (Gothenburg, Sweden) who won the match for Chestnut Hill College on Thursday, April 14, as the Griffins earned a 6-3 CACC victory over Caldwell University on his 6-4, 6-4, win at number three singles. Kohler joined Gavin a contributors to two Griffin victories. Kohler teamed with Ducretot for the Griffins’ second point of the match at number one doubles, 8-2, before winning the fourth point with his 6-2, 6-2, triumph at number two singles.

The first of two remaining dual matches to be held at the Chestnut Hill College Tennis Courts this year, the Griffins hosted fellow National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II East Regional power Queens College for a pair of afternoon matches on Friday, April 15. Both battles finished by the same 6-3 final with the Chestnut Hill College men closing out their competition before the Queens College women evened the score. The Chestnut Hill College men captured their fourth straight win and third in as many days with their win over the Knights. The doubles round ended in the Griffins favor, 2-1, after an 8-5 number one doubles win Kohler and Ducretot. The Knights then tied the match (2-2) with their win at number one singles, 6-3, 6-2, only for the Griffins to respond with Kohler and Gavin winning their respective challenges at number two, 6-3, 6-1, and number three singles, 6-0, 7-5, to regain a 4-2 advantage in an eventual 6-3 final.

?Chestnut Hill College continued their recent peak and remained perfect in the CACC with Sunday’s 8-1 win at Post University. After sweeping doubles play, the Scarlet and Gold only surrendered a number one singles point due to injury before running off five straight singles points. Kohler and Ducretot combined for the first point of the afternoon with their 8-4 victory at number one doubles. After completing the sweep of doubles, 3-0, Chestnut Hill College clinched the match on Kohler’s 6-3, 6-1 win at number two singles.
