Hoffman Lands on CACC Monthly Honor Roll
New Haven, Conn. - (10/5/2016) – Chestnut Hill College senior captain Anthony Hoffman (Philadelphia, Pa.) was honored on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Monthly Honor Roll thanks to his fall-season performances in the Moravian College Fall Invitational and the recently completed Charger Challenge.
Hoffman led Chestnut Hill College to a third place (3rd of 13, 310, +22) finish at Woodstone Country Club on Monday, September 19, when his round of 72 (E) placed him first overall in the field. The hosting Greyhounds (1st of 13, 305, +17) won their own tourney, taking just five strokes less than the Griffins to complete the 6,580-yard course. Senior Dan Leppert (Layton, N.J.) was their top performer. He tied for third with a round of 74 (+2). Hoffman reported two birdies and three pars on the front nine holes, but it was his two-under (34, -2) back-nine that brought him to the top of the leaderboard. In a tight field, his closest competitor finished just a stroke behind and only five strokes separated the top 12 finishers.
After the first day of play at the Charger Challenge, Hoffman rested in a tie for 17th with his round of 80 (+8). Unfortunately, he finished the two-day tournament at Spook Rock Golf Course in a tie for 35th (168, 80-88, +23) with his second-day score of 88 (+16). Chestnut Hill College placed 6th of 8 (604, 329-320, +73) in the tournament.
The Chestnut Hill College golf team travels to Watertown, Connecticut, on Monday, October 10, for their next tournament. There, they will join Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Post University and others at Watertown Golf Club for the Post Eagles Invitational.
