Wildgoose Warrants CACC Weekly Honor Roll MentionĀ For Play versus Bloomsburg University Ā
Ā
New Haven, Conn. - (11/28/2016) – Sophomore forward Jaeda Wildgoose (Somerset, N.J.) helped Chestnut Hill College make it three straight victories to start the 2016-2017 season, providing 15 points, nine rebounds, an assist, and three steals in a 49-45 win at Bloomsburg University’s Nelson Field House on Tuesday, November 22. For her effort, Wildgoose became the third Griffin to appear on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Basketball Weekly Report this season, garnering Honor Roll status.
Ā
Bloomsburg University (0-3) owned a narrow 24-23 halftime lead, which they grew to a 37-30 advantage by the end of the third quarter, only to succumb to the Griffins’ superior rebounding effort (54-42). In the fourth frame, Chestnut Hill College (3-0) atoned for their first three quarters of struggle, totaling 19 points and holding the Huskies to eight points in a role reversing effort that required the heart of a Griffin. Thus, the Scarlet and Gold united for a victorious rally, matching the home team at 41-41 on the first of two Wildgoose free throws at 2:39 and seizing the lead, 47-45, on a late (0:12) second-chance connection between junior guard Vicky Tumasz (North Wales, Pa.), senior guard Brittany McDonough (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and the aforementioned sophomore forward. A pair of Tumasz sealed the victory on a 49-45 Griffin triumph.
Ā
Wildgoose made up for a 4-of-12 (.250) shooting performance with a 7-of-8 (.875) success rate from the free throw line. She was not the only Griffin to shoot poorly as Chestnut Hill College connected less frequently than their host with a 25.8% (17-of-66) team effort. The difference was made on the glass where the Scarlet and Gold overcame with a 54-42 rebounding advantage.
Ā
Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Monday, November 28, when they host East Stroudsburg University in a 6:00 p.m. contest.
