Howell Hauls in Second Straight CACC Rookie of the Week Title
New Haven, Conn. – (4/9/2018) – With six goals, six ground balls, and two caused turnovers in a 1-1 week versus Molloy College (L, 6-9) and Dominican College (W, 14-9), freshman attack J.R. Howell (East Meadow, N.Y.) earned his second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Rookie of the Week award. Seniors, attack Dylan Klusaritz (Slatington, Pa.) and goalkeeper Matthew Pedrick (New Milford, N.J.) joined him on the report as Honor Roll mentions; the former totaled seven points (4 goals, 3 assists) while the latter recorded 20 saves and recovered seven ground balls.

Chestnut Hill College got off to a strong start in Tuesday evening's contest with Molloy College, but the Lions scored the last three goals of the opening period and the first five of the second before ultimately holding off the Griffins in a 9-6 conclusion. Howell and Klusaritz combined for five goals; Howell added three ground balls to his three goals performance, while Klusaritz logged one assist in addition to his two tallies. Pedrick made six saves and grabbed three ground balls.

Dominican College scored the first goal of Saturday afternoon’s CACC contest, but the Chargers’ spark was quickly extinguished by Chestnut Hill College’s overpowering offense in a 14-9 Griffin victory. Howell and sophomore attack Scott Wilden (Wexford, Pa.) scored three goals apiece to lead the Scarlet and Gold; the former also recorded three ground balls. Chestnut Hill College received a four-point (2 goals, 2 assists) performance from Klusaritz, while Pedrick made 14 saves and collected four ground balls for his third win (3-6) of the season.

The Chestnut Hill College men’s lacrosse team returns to their non-conference schedule on Tuesday, April 10, when they visit St. Thomas Aquinas College for a 4:00 p.m. contest.
