Regalin Named CACC Player of the Week, Darias Draws Honor Roll Acclaim
New Haven, Conn. - (4/9/2018) – Senior Pedro Festugato Regalin (Caxias do Sul, Brazil) and freshman Jesus Darias (Bolivar, Venezuela) led Chestnut Hill College in recent competitions at Villanova University and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Post University to respectively garner the league’s Player of the Week and an Honor Roll mention on the latest Men’s Tennis Weekly Report.
In their second and final National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I crossover of the season, Chestnut Hill College visited Villanova University (9-11) for Thursday (April 5) afternoon’s match. There, the Wildcats scored the doubles point with a clean sweep and clinched the match with the first three singles decisions of the affair. Junior Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany) and Regalin added the Griffins’ points afterwards, respectively winning in the first (6-2, 2-6, 6-3) and sixth (6-3, 6-1) singles flights. Regalin’s win at number six singles earned the Scarlet and Gold’s second point and concluded the match, Darias suffered hard-fought losses at both number two doubles (6-2) and number two singles (2-6, 6-1, 6-1).
Visiting Post University for Saturday’s Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season opener. The Griffins issued the first two points of the match with wins at number one and number two doubles, before securing the win on a 6-4, 6-3, number one singles win by senior Felix Andre (Berlin, Germany). The senior duo of Regalin and Lucas Bocaletto (Itatiba, Brazil) combined for the first Chestnut Hill College (7-5, 1-0) point with an 8-4 triumph at number one doubles. Darias and sophomore Antoine Gautier (Eysines, France) followed with their 9-7 win at number two doubles to give the Griffins a 2-1 edge heading to individual play. There, Chestnut Hill College scored the necessary singles points at number three (6-1, 6-3), number six (6-1, 6-2), and number one (6-4, 6-3) with respective wins from Bocaletto, Regalin, and Andre. Darias won the number two singles flight, 6-3, 6-4, in excess.
The Chestnut Hill College men’s tennis team continues their CACC schedule on Monday, April 9, when they host the University of the Sciences (USciences) for a 3:00 p.m. match.
