Morris and Neals Awarded Weekly CACC Titles For Performance at Oscar Moore Invitational
New Haven, Conn. - (4/9/2018) – Sophomore Aaron Morris (Philadelphia, Pa.) recorded first place finishes in the men’s 800-Meter (1st, 1:56.22) and 4x800-Meter Relay (1st, 8:17.30) and freshman Taylor Neals (Bensalem, Pa.) offered a scoring finish in the women’s 1,500-Meter (8th, 5:23.43) at Rowan University’s Oscar Moore Invitational to respectively earn the CACC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week and CACC Women’s Track Rookie of the Week accolades.
Staying ahead of the forecasted snowfall, the Oscar Moore Invitational took place on Sunday (April 8) afternoon rather than its originally scheduled date of Saturday, April 7. The Chestnut Hill College men’s track and field team offered three first place finishes and a record toss in the Shot Put to place second in the eight-team field (2nd of 8) with 58 total points. Meanwhile, the Chestnut Hill College women’s track and field team provided program record in the 4x800-Meter Relay, despite landing seventh in their eight-team field (7th of 8) with 17 points.
The Griffins scored a dozen (12) points in the men’s 800-Meter with Morris contributing ten points with his first place time of 1:56.22. He also took part in Chestnut Hill College’s first place 4x800-Meter Relay finish, where he ran the third leg of a combined 8:17.30, 10-point performance with sophomores Jake DiCello (Pottsville, Pa.), Zigmund Fisher (Chadds Ford, Pa.), and senior Ediegeo Vanterpool II (Clementon, N.J.). On the other side, Neals provided one point the Scarlet and Gold’s finish with her eighth place time (5:23.43) in the 1,500-Meter.
The Chestnut Hill College men’s and women’s track and field teams compete next at Stockton University’s Osprey Open on Friday, April 13.
