Neals First Place Finish Delivers CACC Runner of the Week Award, Fisher Finds CACC Weekly Honor Roll

New Haven, Conn. – (9/10/2018) – Sophomore Taylor Neals (Bensalem, Pa.) etched her name in Chestnut Hill College cross country history as the first Griffin to place first at the Philadelphia Metro Invitational as she paced the competition and completed the five-kilometer (5K) race in a time of 20:50.7. Her performance helped Chestnut Hill College place 8th of 16 teams with 192 points and garnered the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week award. Junior Zigmund Fisher (Chadds Ford, Pa.) placed fifth (27:59.8) in the men’s eight-kilometer (8K) run to earn a mention on the CACC Men’s Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll.

In addition to Neals, seniors Raquel Lopez (East Meadow, N.Y.) and Erica Waleski (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) also finished in the top-25; the former placed 17th in a time of 21:45.1 and the latter placed 25th in a time of 22:10.1. Also scoring for Chestnut Hill College, senior Kelly Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa.) came in 80th (25:38.2) and freshman Brittany Kahhan (Philadelphia, Pa.) placed 89th (26:57.9).

Fisher was the first among four Griffins to finish the Philadelphia Metro Invitational 8K, placing fifth with a time of 27:59.8. Unfortunately, Chestnut Hill College recorded no team score. But Fisher's run was complimented by the efforts of his classmates, Jake DiCello (Pottsville, Pa.) (17th, 29:00.1), Alex Lynch (Manchester, N.J.) (75th, 32:42.5), and Frank MacGregor (Collegeville, Pa.) (33:46.5).
