Lemieux Lands CACC Golf Rookie of the Week Accolade, Mezzatesta Scores Honor Roll Recognition
New Haven, Conn. - (9/17/2018) – Junior Taylor Mezzatesta (Forest Hill, Md.) and freshman Jakob Lemieux (Toronto, Canada) both placed in the top-10 at the Swarthmore College/Neumann University’s Frederick W. Anton III Memorial to lead Chestnut Hill College to a fourth place (4th of 14, 326, +42) finish and earn themselves a mention on the most recent, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Weekly Report. Mezzatesta, who earned CACC Weekly Honor Roll recognition, completed the 6,405-yard course in 76 (+5) strokes to place fourth on the individual leaderboard. Lemieux was just a stroke behind him, tying for fifth with his round of 77 (+6) and earning the league’s Rookie of the Week award.
With four finishers among the top-eight, Swarthmore College (1st of 14, 301, +17) won the event at Rock Manor Golf Club. However, Ursinus College (2nd of 14, 320, +36) offered the tournament’s top shooter in freshman Kyle Quaglierro (Headwater, N.J.), who matched par with his 71 (E).
Behind Mezzatesta and Lemieux the Griffin lineup included juniors Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.) and Nick Smalley (Blue Bell, Pa.) and freshman Michael Ruark (Galena, Ohio). Ruark tied for 32nd with a score of 86 (+15). Mayer was a stroke behind him, tying for 38th with a round of 87 (+16). And Smalley shot a 91 (+20) to tie for 52nd.
