Reily Records First CACC Weekly Report Appearance of Season
New Haven, Conn. – (9/24/2018) – Junior outside hitter Reily Byxbee (Madison, Conn.) earned mention on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women’s Volleyball Honor Roll with her play in last week’s matches versus Bloomfield College, Nyack College, and Pace University. Byxbee recorded a double-double in each of the matches, scoring 10 kills, an assist, and 15 digs in the Griffins 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-22) win over the Bears on Wednesday, September 19, and later serving as the Scarlet and Gold’s top player in a doubleheader on Saturday, September 22, with 31 kills on a .259 (31K-10E-81TA) hitting percentage, two assists, two aces, 29 digs, and two block assists.
Chestnut Hill College defeated Bloomfield College in a 3-0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-22) sweep at Sorgenti Arena on Wednesday, giving the Griffins their second CACC win. Byxbee and junior middle hitter Cassie Callahan (St. Louis, Mo.) led the Scarlet and Gold with ten kills apiece. Byxbee also logged one assist and 15 digs.
On Saturday, after dropping the first two sets to Nyack College, 25-21 and 25-23, Chestnut Hill College was able to force a deciding with recovery wins of 25-20 and 26-24. Unfortunately, the tiebreaker went back and forth, before eventually settling in the Warriors’ favor, 15-13 (L, 3-2; 25-21, 25-23, 20-25, 24-26, 15-13). In the latter non-conference tilt versus Pace University, the Setters emerged from a 1-1 tie with overpowering set wins of 25-8 and 25-16, rendering the Griffins winless on the afternoon (L, 3-1; 25-20, 24-26, 25-8, 25-16). Byxbee scored 22.5 points against the Warriors with a career-high 21 kills on a .348 (21K-5E-46TA) hitting percentage, an assist, an ace, 18 digs, and a block assist. Versus the Setters, Byxbee again led the Griffins in points with 11.5; she recorded 10 kills, an ace, and a block assist to do so, but additionally provided an assist and 11 digs.
Chestnut Hill College resumes their CACC schedule on Tuesday, September 25, when they visit Holy Family University for a 7:00 p.m. match.
