Lemiuex Lands Fourth CACC Golf Rookie of the Week Award
New Haven, Conn. - (10/10/2018) – For the fourth time this season, freshman Jakob Lemieux (Toronto, Canada) was named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Golf Rookie of the Week. Lemieux tied for fourth (T4th, 71-77, 148, +8) at the league championship tournament and placed sixth (6th, 75, +3) in a tri-match at the ACE Club with Jefferson and Concordia College (NY), helping Chestnut Hill College to respective seventh (7th of 9, 313-314, 627, +33) and second place second (2nd of 3, 313, +25) finishes.
CACC Championship play concluded on Monday, October 1, at Newark, Delaware's Deerfield Country Club, where Chestnut Hill College placed seventh (7th of 9, 313-314, 627, +33) among its CACC constituents on the strength of a second-day 77 (+7) from Lemieux. Lemieux – who shot one-over (71, +1) on day one - tied for fourth (T4th , 71-77, 148, +8) on the individual leaderboard and earned all-tournament honors along with Post University senior Matthieu Sicard (Marseille, France) (1st, 72-70, 142, +2), Dominican College senior Daniel Parker (Ocean City, Md. (2nd, 70-73, 143, +3), Wilmington University senior Ryan Rucinski (Wilmington, Del.) (3rd, 74-71, 145, +5), and Felician University junior Jake Storako (Laurel Springs, N.J.) (T4th, 71-77, 148, +8).
Fresh off the CACC Golf Championships, Chestnut Hill College joined host, Jefferson, Concordia College (NY), and Swarthmore College for a round at Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania’s ACE Club. The Griffins finished among the three teams that qualified for scoring and was led by a 74 (+2) from junior Shawn Mayer (Brick, N.J.). Mayer’s two-over tied him for fourth, but Lemiuex was just a stroke behind (6th, 75, +3) to help Chestnut Hill College to their second place finish.
