DePalma Scores Third CACC Honorable Mention

Alex DePalma (Shillington, PA) received her third, and second straight, honorable mention for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Week award. DePalma scored 25 kills on a .253 (25K-6E-75TA) hitting percentage while also hustling to 25 digs in a 1-1 week for the Griffins.
DePalma opened the week with 14 kills on a .333 (14K-1E-39TA) hitting percentage, and 16 digs in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-22) win over Goldey-Beacom College on Thursday, October 6, before recording 11 kills and nine digs in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-19) loss at Nyack College on Saturday, October 8. DePalma awoke in the second set against the Lightning, she killed eight balls and made eight dig to push the Griffins to a 2-0 lead. She made four more kills in the fourth set to send Chestnut Hill College (9-13, 4-6) to a CACC victory. The Griffins had their best showing at Nyack College in the third set, but still only sported a .122 (9K-4E-41TA) hitting percentage. DePalma led the Griffins in defeat with 11 kills and nine digs.
Through 22 matches, DePalma is leading the Griffins in kills (263, 3.21/set), and aces (31), while ranking second on the team in digs (266, 3.24/set). She ranks second in the CACC for kills, tied for ninth in aces, and fifth in digs.
The women’s volleyball team returns home to host Dominican College in a 7:00 p.m. CACC match on Tuesday, October 11.
