Brown, Bennett, and Hogan Earn Weekly CACC Men’s Lacrosse Player, Defensive Player, and Goalkeeper Awards
 
New Haven, Conn. - (4/3/2019) –
Once again, Chestnut Hill College placed multiple players on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Men’s Lacrosse Weekly Report as senior attack Casey Brown (Havre de Grace, Md.), senior midfielder John Bennett (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.), and junior Stephen Hogan Jr. (Doylestown, Pa.) respectively garnered the league’s Player, Defensive, and Goalkeeper of the Week awards. Brown totaled a dozen (12) points with nine goals and three assists during the Griffins’ 1-1 week versus #3 Mercy College and St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC), meanwhile Bennett offered relentless hustle with nine ground balls and a caused turnover in addition to his two points (1 goal, 1 assist), and Hogan – despite a 0-1 record - totaled 18 saves on an 11.66 goals against average (GAA) and a .514 save percentage.     
 
Chestnut Hill College (4-4) had the difficult task of holding off #3 Mercy College (10-0) in Tuesday's non-conference matchup at Victory Field #1. The Griffins held their own early, only trailing 4-2 at the half. Unfortunately, a 23-10 shooting differential in the second half had its effect on the final result as the Mavericks escaped with a 12-7 victory. Brown headlined the Griffin effort, logging four of the Scarlet and Golds seven goals. Meanwhile, Bennett provided an assist and six ground balls to support a solid performance from Hogan. The Griffin goalkeeper 14 saves and recovered two ground balls to keep the Scarlet and Gold on the Mavericks heels.
 
Four days later, on Saturday, March 30, the Scarlet and Gold dominated STAC (4-3) in a 14-8 non-conference matchup. The Griffins maintained a strong lead over the Spartans majority of the first half (9-3) and continued their stride for the remainder of the contest despite a small run in the final quarter. Brown led the Griffin charge with five goals, three assists, and a ground ball. Bennett offered a goal, three ground balls, and a caused turnover. Hogan recorded four saves in the opening 27:38 of the second half.
