Mike West took over the Chestnut Hill College women's basketball program after the 2014-2015 season and within three seasons has established the Scarlet and Gold as one of the premier programs in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). Under his watch, the Griffins have enjoyed a 47-36 (.566) record, which includes a 36-21 (.632) league mark, three straight CACC postseason appearances, 45 team records, 26 individual records, five All-CACC performers (1 First Team, 1 Second Team, 3 Third Team), three straight CACC Student-Athletes of the Month for January, and three straight CACC Rookies of the Year.

In their maiden season (2015-2016) under Coach West, Chestnut Hill College experienced a historical four months that set program records for NCAA Division II wins (12), CACC wins (10), field goals attempted (1,739), free throws made (362), free throws attempted (559), defensive rebounds (890), total rebounds (1,269), assists (403), blocks (120), and points (1,852) while earning their first appearance in the CACC Championship Tournament.
Jaeda Wildgoose ’19 was the Griffins' lone All-CACC performer, earning the league's Rookie of the Year award and an All-CACC Third Team honor by averaging 13.4 points-per-game (PPG) and 7.8 rebounds-per-game (RPG); both Chestnut Hill College rookie bests.

In his second season (2016-2017), Chestnut Hill College continued their assault on the school and conference record books. Highlighted by a pair of All-CACC Third Team selections at guard –
Caity Kuhnen ’17 and
Mary Trossi ’19 – and the CACC Rookie of the Year, forward
Shannon Glenn ’20. The Griffins set 10 individual records and 21 program records that season, including NCAA Division II wins (16), CACC wins (11), best overall Division II record (16-11), highest regular-season scoring average in CACC history (78.7 PPG), most points in school history (2,095), highest scoring average in school history (77.6 PPG), most field goals in a season (759), most field goals attempted (1,825), highest field goal percentage (.416), most three-pointers in a season (210), most three pointers attempted (560), highest three-point percentage (.375), most free throws made (367), most assists in a season (483), highest assists-per-game average (17.9 APG), most points in a game (108, 1/4/17 vs. Post University), most field goals made (40, 1/4/17 vs. Post University), most field goals attempted in a game (84, 1/28/17 vs. Felician University), and most free throws made in a game (31, 2/1/17 vs. Washington Adventist University).

Another historic season followed in 2017-2018 as Chestnut Hill College returned to the CACC Women's Basketball Quarterfinals for a third consecutive year. The high-scoring Griffins won six games in a row between December 19 and January 16 and went 7-3 in their last 10 games, while setting program singles-season highs in points (2,198), field goals made (731), field goals attempted (1,848), free throw percentage (.758), three pointers made (228), and three pointers attempted (677). For the third straight season, the Griffins supplied the CACC Rookie of the Year in
Cassie Sebold ‘21. Two earned All-CACC status with Wildgoose and
Vicky Tumasz ’18 respectively receiving First and Second Team honors.
West was a four-year apprentice of Jefferson (Philadelphia University) Director of Athletics and Head Women's Basketball Coach Tom Shirley, joining the Lady Rams as an assistant in 2011, aiding the seventh-winningest (661 wins, 512 at Philadelphia University) coach in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II women’s basketball history to three 20-win seasons, a 2014-2015 CACC Women’s Basketball Championship appearance, and a 2015 NCAA DII East Regional Tournament berth. In addition to coaching, he managed and coordinated a recruiting program that produced two All-CACC First Team selections, an All-CACC Second Team honoree, and four All-CACC Third Team performers including the 2011-2012 CACC Player of the Year (Christine Wooding ’12) and the 2012-2013 CACC Rookie of the Year (Tori Arnao ’16). With the Lady Rams, West’s responsibilities also included scouting opponents, on-campus recruiting visits, off-season workout design, practice planning and execution, game-tape exchange, game strategy, and in-game adjustments.

Prior to his time at Philadelphia University, West was a head junior varsity coach and assistant varsity boys’ basketball coach at Upper Perkiomen High School (2010-2011) in Pennsburg, Pennsylvania, where he created and implemented a strength and conditioning program and developed sport specific skills. West was an assistant varsity and junior varsity boys’ basketball coach at North Penn High School in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, from 2006 to 2008, fulfilling similar duties and recruiting for the Knights.

A four-year student-athlete, West is a 2006 graduate of Lebanon Valley College where, as a Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference All-Academic team representative, he helped the Dutchmen to an East Coast Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southeast Regional Championship and a NCAA Division III Tournament second-round appearance in 2005. West holds a bachelor’s degree in history and currently resides in Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
