Philadelphia, PA – (10/10/2009) – Prior to this afternoon's women's tennis match, Chestnut Hill College recognized the team's senior class. The Griffins hosted St. Thomas Aquinas College in their final home match. The Spartans spoiled the event with a 9-0 win over the Griffins. The start of the match was delayed due to late morning showers.
Following the clearing clouds, Chestnut Hill College (2-13, 2-7) took the courts opposed from St. Thomas Aquinas College (6-4) for pregame announcements. Head Coach
Albert Stroble reflected on the careers of each senior student-athlete and joined Director of Athletics
Lynn Tubman in greeting the seniors;

Karen Guwuriro (Harare, Zimbabwe ),
Aiesha Grierson (Philadelphia, PA), and
Brittany Parker (Lancaster, PA), with hugs and gifts.
The Spartans immediately gained the upper hand with a sweep in doubles play. Grierson and Parker came the closest for the Griffins; they lost 8-5 at number three doubles. Parker was also the Griffins' most successful singles player. She lost 8-5 at number six singles.
The women's tennis team will play next as individuals in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15. Chestnut Hill College will be hosting the CACC team, singles, and doubles championship tournaments for the third consecutive year.
