Philadelphia, PA – (10/13/2009) – Chestnut Hill College hosted Georgian Court University in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The Lions took the lead with a 25-14 win in the opening game. The Griffins, led by freshman libero Elisabeth DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA ) and freshman middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA ) slowed the Lions in game two. However, a late Lion surge earned a 25-21 win. The Lions continued on to win the third game 25-11 with a .467 (18K-4E-30TA) hitting percentage and therefore they won the match 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-11).

After dropping the opening game 25-14, Chestnut Hill College (4-17, 0-11) held Georgian Court University (15-7, 10-0) in check and owned an 18-16 advantage. Unfortunately, the Lions rallied to take the second game 25-21, led by senior outside hitter Janelle Murdock (Manahawkin, N.J.). The Lions used their momentum to take the third game decisively, 25-11. Murdock and junior middle hitter Stephanie Rivera (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) each totaled 11 kills to lead the Lions up front. Senior setter Lisamary Figueroa (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) fueled the hitters with 28 assists. Murdock also led the Lions on defense with 11 digs.

DiGregorio hustled to 14 digs to keep the Griffins in competition. She was aided by three blocks from Benson, who also led the Griffins offensively with eight kills. She hit .286 (8K-2E-21TA) in the match.

The women's volleyball team heads to Goldey-Beacom College for their next CACC match. A 7:00 p.m. start is scheduled for Thursday, October 15.
