Rutherford, N.J. – (10/17/2009) – Chestnut Hill College's freshman middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA ) struck a career high 18 kills in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match at Felician College, however, she was outdone. Junior outside hitter Amber Doran (Little Ferry, N.J.) killed 28 balls in addition to making 17 digs to lead the Golden Falcons past the Griffins 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-17).

Each game came down to the final stretch, as Chestnut Hill College (4-19, 0-13) fought Felician College (4-19, 3-9) to the last serve in each frame. The Golden Falcons took the first two games by scores of 25-23. Doran and freshman outside hitter Jenna Matesic (Paramus, N.J.) headlined the Golden Falcon attack, feeding off the play of junior setter Nicole Dagenhardt (Secaucus, N.J.). Dagenhardt provided 50 assists and 12 digs propelling the Golden Falcons to a victory despite a 25-17 Griffin victory in game three. The Golden Falcons took the final game 25-17.

In support of Benson, freshman libero Elisabeth DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA ) and freshman setter Courtney Gallo (Wilmington, DE ) gave their best toward the Griffins' game three rally. Gallo helped on defense with 13 digs, but offensively she supplied the Griffins with a career high 27 assists. A top the Griffin offensive attack, Benson used Gallo's sets to strike for a .405 (18K-3E-37TA) hitting percentage. Defensively, the Griffin effort was captained by DiGregorio, who made 38 digs. Benson hustled to four blocks while freshman defensive specialist Bobbie Chukuntarod (San Francisco, CA ) helped the Griffins on both sides of the net with 13 digs and six aces. The Griffins spotted a season-high 15 aces in the match.

The women's volleyball team returns home to host Dominican College in a 7:00 p.m. CACC match on Wednesday, October 21.
