Philadelphia, PA – (10/29/2009) – Chestnut Hill College came alive in the third game of this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match against Wilmington University. Freshman middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA ) killed four balls and helped the Griffins keep pace with the Wildcats, however, Wilmington University recovered and won game three 25-16 to take the match 3-0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-16).

Wilmington University (13-14, 9-8) controlled the opening game behind the play of sophomore setter Shannon Rumple (Fallston, Md.) and sophomore opposite Paige Norvell (Newark, Del.). Rumple provided seven assists and Norvell totaled four kills to propel the Wildcats to a 25-12 game-one win. Chestnut Hill College (4-23, 0-16) looked to even the match in game two, but junior outside hitter Meghan Frick (Fairfax, Va.) and sophomore middle blocker Sheri Hunley (Newark, Del.) kept the Wildcats in command. Frick held serve for 14 attempts and Hunley posted five blocks in the game carrying the Wildcats to a 25-9 win. Benson fronted a rallying effort for the Griffins in the third game. She helped the Griffins close the deficit to 18-14 before the Wildcats regained composure for the 25-16 victory.

Norvell led the Wildcats with eight kills in the match. Rumple supplied 21 assists and helped on defense with nine digs. Frick spotted eight aces on 23 service attempts. Defensively, Hunley made seven blocks and junior libero Brittany O'Neill (Newark, Del.) recorded 11 digs.

Benson finished the match with seven kills and a .235 (7K-3E-17TA) hitting percentage. Freshman setter Courtney Gallo (Wilmington, DE ) joined her in leading the offense, providing six assists. Defensively, freshmen, libero Elisabeth DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA ) and specialist Bobbie Chukuntarod (San Francisco, CA ) combined to make 25 digs. DiGregorio led the team with 14.

The women's volleyball team resumes their CACC schedule with a 1:00 p.m. match at Concordia College on Saturday, October 31.
