Philadelphia, PA – (10/3/2009) – Chestnut Hill College hosted the University of the Sciences this afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. Freshman Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY ) was the lone Griffins to record a point in the match as the Devils left victorious 8-1.

Knott won at number two singles for Chestnut Hill College (1-10, 1-4); defeating junior Bridget Frymoyer (Shillington, Pa.) 6-3, 6-1. At number four singles, senior Karen Guwuriro (Harare, Zimbabwe ) forced a tie-breaker in the opening set, losing 7-6 (7-5), before dropping the match 6-4. The University of the Sciences (2-5, 2-3) swept the remaining singles matches, led by freshman Sara Durham (Bridgeton, N.J.) who won the top individual flight 6-0, 6-3. The Devils also won the three doubles matches to earn the 8-1 win.

The women's tennis team heads to Post University for a 12:00 p.m. CACC match tomorrow, Sunday, October 4.
