Philadelphia, PA – (12/12/2009) – Goldey-Beacom College jumped out to an early advantage over Chestnut Hill College in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The Lightning took a ten-point lead in the opening 6:16 and they never looked back as the Griffins fell 82-66 to their South Division rival. Junior forward Terrence Parkes (New Rochelle, N.Y.) led the Lightning with 26 points and 17 rebounds.

Goldey-Beacom College (5-2, 3-0) owned a 39-25 halftime advantage on the poor shooting of Chestnut Hill College (4-6, 0-2). The Griffins hit 34.5% (10-of-29) from the field, but with a 53.3% (16-of-30) shooting percentage the Lightning advanced an early 14-4 lead into a 37-18 lead with 3:16 left in the opening period. Senior guard Kyle White (Georgetown, Del.) headed the Lighting with 11 points. Sophomore forward Dan Comas (Philadelphia, Pa.) and freshman guard freshman guard Mark DiRugeris Jr. (Woodbury, NJ) each scored six for the Griffins.

Parkes and White headlined the Lightning through the closing frame. White totaled 20 points, eight assists, and six rebounds at the point while his backcourt teammate, junior Azeez Ellegood (Wilmington, Del.) chipped in with 14 points.

DiRugeris Jr. finished as the Griffins' leading scorer with 13 points; he was also one of three Griffins with two assists. Comas totaled ten points, two blocks, and a steal while collecting a team-high seven rebounds. Graduate forward Larz Jeter (Philadelphia, PA) added nine points.

The men's basketball team heads to Davis and Elkins College for a 2:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, December 19.
