Lakewood, NJ – (9/15/2009) – This evening, the Chestnut Hill College women's volleyball team travelled to Georgian Court University for their second Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match of the season. The Lions hit .462 (8K-2E-13TA) in the opening game and .464 (16K-3E-28TA) in the second game en route to defeating the Griffins 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-18). The Griffin defense slowed the Lions in the final game holding the defending CACC champions to a .086 (10K-7E-35TA) hitting percentage, but it was not enough to derail Georgian Court University.

Senior setter Lisamary Figueroa (Toa Alta, Puerto Rico) directed Georgian Court University (4-6, 1-0) with 22 assists. The Lions used a balanced attack to efficiently win the first two games; headlining the attack freshman outside hitter Talita Rocha (Contagem, Brazil) spotted seven kills and turned in a .500 (7K-1E-12TA) hitting percentage. Defensively, senior libero Ana Cruz (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) provided 18 digs.

Chestnut Hill College (2-8, 0-2) was led offensively by freshman middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, Cal.). Benson scored three kills. Setters, sophomore Katherine Tohanczyn (Hatfield, PA) and freshman Courtney Gallo (Wilmington, DE ) each recorded four assists; Gallo registered the Griffins' lone ace. Defensively, the Griffins combined for three team blocks. Freshman libero Elisabeth DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA ) hustled to ten digs.

The women's volleyball team hosts Goldey-Beacom College in their next CACC match; scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start on Thursday, September 17.
