Philadelphia, PA – (9/22/2009) – In this afternoon's home opening match, the Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team hosted Goldey-Beacom College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. The Griffins challenged the Lightning through the opening round of doubles action; however, Goldey-Beacom College proved the better taking the conference by a 9-0 final.

Sisters, freshman Regina Doherty (South Hampton, PA) and junior Sarah Doherty gave the Griffins' best showing with an 8-6 loss at number three doubles. Goldey-Beacom College (4-0, 1-0) topped Chestnut Hill College (0-6, 0-2) 8-2 at number one doubles and 8-3 at number two doubles to carry a 3-0 advantage heading to individual play. The Lightning swept singles action to perpetuate the 9-0 win.

The women's tennis team visits Holy Family University for their next CACC match. The match is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start on Thursday, September 24.
