West Chester, PA – (9/26/2009) – West Chester University topped Chestnut Hill College in each match of doubles and singles play to take this afternoon's match 9-0. Junior Sarah Doherty (South Hampton, PA) and freshman Regina Doherty (South Hampton, PA) teamed for the Griffins' best showing, an 8-6 loss at number three doubles.
Chestnut Hill College (0-8) failed to score at number one singles, 8-0, and took an 8-2 loss in the second team flight, as West Chester University (6-1) advanced to singles play with a 3-0 advantage. The Griffins threatened to score at number three doubles, but sophomore Allie Melhem (Easton, Pa.) and senior Jessica Trahey (West Chester, Pa.) came through with an 8-6 win over the Doherty sisters. The Golden Rams went to sweep individual action for the 9-0 win.
The women's tennis team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with a 4:00 p.m. match at Caldwell College on Tuesday, September 29.
