Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY ) led Chestnut Hill College against Molloy College this afternoon. Anderson and Knott teamed for a win at number one doubles before taking the top two singles flights, respectively. The Griffins attempted to rally from a 2-1 doubles deficit, but Molloy College protected their home courts by splitting the singles matches for a 5-4 victory.
Andersen and Knott teamed to earn Chestnut Hill College (0-2) a point in the top doubles match with an 8-3 win; however the Lions claimed the remaining two doubles flights to hold the advantage heading to individual play. The Griffins looked for a comeback in singles play as Andersen led off at number one singles with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 win, and Knott followed at number two singles with a 6-1, 6-2 victory. Molloy College (1-0) took number three, four, and six singles to match the Griffins, who also received a point at number five singles from junior Sarah Doherty (South Hampton, PA). Doherty came from behind to win her singles match 3-6, 7-5, 7-5.
The women's tennis team will begin their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a trip to Georgian Court University at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9.
