Shippensburg, PA – (3/28/2010) – Chestnut Hill College split individual play with Shippensburg University, but the Raiders grabbed the bottom two doubles matches to win this afternoon's women's tennis contest 5-4. Freshman Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY) had a hand in two Griffin points, scoring wins in both singles and doubles action.
Knott teamed with senior Erin Andersen (Canton, CT) to win number one doubles 8-1, but the Raiders took number two and three doubles by 8-5 finals before splitting individual play with the Griffins. Shippensburg University (2-8) won individual matches at number one, five, and six singles, while Knott, fellow freshman Kristen Wasson (Albrightsville, PA), and junior Sarah Doherty (South Hampton, PA) scored individual points for Chestnut Hill College (2-16). Knott won number two singles 6-2, 6-0. Wasson won the afternoon's most competitive match at number three singles 7-6 (7-5), 2-6, 10-7; while Doherty was victorious at number four doubles, 7-6 (7-2), 6-0.
The women's tennis team's next match comes at Cheyney University on Friday, April 16, when the Griffins visit the Wolves for a 3:30 p.m. match.
