Women’s Tennis Grabs Win over Wolves

Philadelphia, PA – (4/16/2010) – Chestnut Hill College took number six singles and number three doubles by default while sweeping all completed matches with Cheyney University to collect a 9-0 win this afternoon. Freshman Danielle Knott (Mt. Vernon, NY) headlined the Griffins' third victory with an 8-0 win at number two singles and at number one doubles.

 

Chestnut Hill College (3-16) was triumphant in every match, but Knott did not surrender a point in singles or doubles play. In doubles action, Knott teamed with senior Erin Andersen (Canton, CT) for a win in the top flight, 8-0. Sisters, freshman Regina Doherty (South Hampton, PA) and junior Sarah Doherty (South Hampton, PA) won number two doubles 8-1 and the Griffins took the third flight by default.

 

In individual play, Andersen set the tone with an 8-5 win at number one singles. Knott won the second singles match 8-0 and freshman Kristen Wasson (Albrightsville, PA) was victorious at number three singles 8-1. Freshman Kara Hill and senior Brittany Parker (Lancaster, PA) both won their first individual match of the season. Hill took number four singles 8-2 and Parker won number five singles 8-1. The Griffins took number six singles by default.

 

The women's tennis team completes their season when they join the men for a trip to East Stroudsburg University on Sunday, April 18. The afternoon of tennis is scheduled for w 12:00 p.m. start.
