Philadelphia, PA – (9/25/2010) – The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team welcomed Concordia College (NY) to campus for a Family Weekend, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The Clippers ended the Griffins three-match, conference win streak with an 8-1 win. Sophomore Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) was the only Griffin to record a point, winning number three singles 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
Concordia College (2-0, 2-0) swept doubles play and looked to do the same in singles action, but Parapouras spoiled their plans with a victory in the third individual flight. Parapouras battled junior Juliana Frey (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) to a 7-6 (7-4) in the first set and then carried the momentum to a 6-1 in the second set. Unfortunately, it was the only win Chestnut Hill College (4-4, 3-2) could muster this afternoon, as the Clippers claimed all remaining singles points for the 8-1 final.
The women's tennis team continues CACC play with a trip to Philadelphia University, for a 3:30 p.m. match on Tuesday, September 28.
