Philadelphia, PA - (9/30/10) – Wilmington University visited Chestnut Hill College for this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The Wildcats won the match by a 3-0 final taking all three sets decisively (25-13, 25-14, 25-16). Sophomore middle hitter Cassie Benson (Rosamond, CA) and sophomore libero Elisabeth DiGregorio (Conshohocken, PA) headlined the Griffin effort.
Sophomore outside hitter Nicole Wiechecki (Wilmington, DE) and junior opposite Paige Norvell (Newark, DE) led Wilmington University (10-7, 5-2) combined for nine kills in the opening set, driving the Wildcats to a 25-13. The second set followed suit, 25-14 Wildcats, with Norvell scoring five kills and Wiechecki serving two aces. Chestnut Hill College (3-13, 1-5) could not recover to stop the Wildcats momentum, as they ended the match on a 25-16 win in the third set.
Benson made four kills in the opening set and she finished with seven kills to headline the Griffin offense. She also made three blocks, defensively, to total 9.5 points in the affair. Sophomore setter Courtney Gallo (Wilmington, DE) supplied 12 assists, while freshman setter Allison Eberly (Orwigsburg, PA) scored the Griffins only ace. DiGregorio helped Benson on the defensive end, hustling 16 digs.
The women's volleyball team continues their CACC schedule with a 12:00 p.m. match at Dominican College on Saturday, October 2.
