Tiger Tempo Bests Men’s Basketball

Philadelphia, PA – (1/6/2011) – Holy Family University separated from Chestnut Hill College in the final seven minutes, ending the contest on a 29-19 run and a 89-79 final. Tiger's junior guard Tim Smith (Philadelphia, PA) powered the visitors to Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory with 25 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Junior center Dan Comas (Philadelphia, PA) led the Griffins with 23 points and 12 rebounds.
 
After rallying to tie the contest at 60-60 (6:58) the Chestnut Hill College (2-8, 0-3) defense broke down allowing Holy Family University (3-11, 1-3) to begin a parade to the free throw line. Using 13 Griffin fouls to their advantage, the Tigers went 25-of-27 (92.6%) from the charity stripe in the final seven minutes. Freshman guard Nate Hodge (Colombia, MD) was 11-of-11 (100.0%) from the free throw line and Smith was 10-of-13 (76.9%). They led five Tigers in double figures; Smith led the way with his game-high 25 points. Hodge totaled 22 points while freshman guard Alberto Munoz (Morrisville, NC), sophomore guard Khiry Hankins (Cincinnati, OH), and junior forward Sam Mushman (Hackettstown, NJ) each contributed 11 points.
 
Comas record his second double-double of the season and the 14th of his career. He was joined by three other Griffins in double figures; senior forward Trenton Davidheiser (Pottstown, PA) scored 12 points, senior guard Brandon Williams (Philadelphia, PA) recorded 11 points, and junior guard Uros Kovacevic (Kotor, Montenegro) added ten points. Davidheiser also grabbed seven rebounds and handed out five assists.
 
The men's basketball team continues their CACC schedule at home with a 3:00 p.m. contest against Bloomfield College at Saturday, January 8.
