Bronxville, NY – (10/11/2011) – Chestnut Hill College suffered their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss of the season this afternoon, as the Griffins fell 7-2 at Concordia College (NY). Sophomore
Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, OH) and junior
Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) scored singles victories at number two and number three singles, respectively, to account for the Griffin points.
Concordia College (NY) (6-0, 6-0) grabbed the edge on Chestnut Hill College (11-2, 6-1) in the conference standings with today's win. The Clippers grabbed a 3-0 advantage by sweeping doubles play and then looked to continue the shutout through singles. Unfortunately, Dennis and Parapouras had other plans. Dennis battled for a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win over junior Ana S.O Mendes (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) at number two singles and Parapouras did the same with a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 win over senior Clara Catanzano (Sete, France) at number three singles to limit the Clippers to a 7-2 win.
The women's tennis team returns home to host Goldey-Beacom College in a 3:30 p.m. CACC match on Thursday, October 13.
