Philadelphia, PA – (10/17/2011) – The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team completed their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season this afternoon with a 5-4 win over Goldey-Beacom College. The Lightning threatened with three singles wins, but with deciding victories coming and number one and number three singles the Griffins claimed victory and finished the fall season at 13-2 overall and 7-1 in the CACC.
 
Chestnut Hill College (13-2, 7-1) held the advantage following doubles play, 2-1, winning the top two doubles flights. Junior Nastia Shcherbakova (Minsk, Belarus) and sophomore Kelly Dennis (Cincinnati, OH) teamed for an 8-4 win at number one doubles, while junior Maria Parapouras (Victoria, Australia) and freshman Morgan Oechsle (Coopersburg, PA) combined for a 9-8 (7-3) win at number two doubles.
 
Goldey-Beacom College (6-2, 6-2) evened the match by winning number two, number five, and number six singles, which left all things even with the outcome of number one and number three singles to determine the victor. Fortunately, The Griffins proved greater than the Lightning as Shcherbakova battled freshman Stephanie Puentes (Bogota, Columbia) to a 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 win at number one singles and Parapouras rallied at number three singles 2-6, 7-6 (7-5).
 
The women's tennis team will rematch Goldey-Beacom College in the semifinal round of the upcoming CACC Championship Tournament. As the #2 seed, the Griffins will host the Lightning in a 1:00 p.m. match at Concordia College (NY) on Saturday, October 22.
