Straka Leads Griffins Strikers At Immaculata Invitational

Avondale, PA – (10/24/2011) – An 89-stroke round from freshman Blaise Straka (Croydon, PA) led Chestnut Hill College on the second day of competition at the Immaculata University Fall Invitational. The Griffins finished the event in 13th with a 787 team score and were led by Straka, who came in 41st place with 169 (+29) strokes. Freshman Andrew Park (Seoul, Korea) of Swarthmore College was the top performer with 145 strokes, including a second-round best 71 (+1). Unfortunately, the Garnet was left to third place as La Salle University's first round carried the Explorers to a first place finish (595, +35).
 
La Salle University shot a 292 on the first day of play at Inniscronne Golf Course and it proved enough to weather a second-day 294 from Swarthmore College. La Salle University sophomores, Michael Johnson (Ambler, PA) and Tyler Farwell (Harrisburg, PA) led the Explorers with matching rounds of 72 and 73 (145).
 
Chestnut Hill College completed their fall schedule with today's competition and Straka has led the Griffins throughout his first semester of collegiate play. Senior Mitch Doherty Jr. (Lowell, MA) stroked a 97 on the second day to finish the two-day event with a 198, he placed 65th. His fellow seniors were not far behind. Nick Mull (Collingswood, NJ) was next, in 68th with a 210. Kyle Thornley (East Windsor, NJ) shot a 213 (69th) and Gavin Reid (Kingsville, MD) scored a 220 (70th).
